Welcome! I’m Mathias B. Freese (“Matt”). I’ve created this respite as a writer’s oasis. Tarry a while, for it is here that I share and express who I am. It is all about me, although I may be of no particular interest to you. And that may very well be the point. I persevere as a writer, for an artist is never poor (Dinesen). So I am here to give who I am (the writer’s task). I am mere mortal disturbance on surface earth, a human pinprick, and all herein is an introduction to my inner-directed life. Pass on by if you don’t want to be bruised by what I have said in print.
Author of such books as i, The i Tetralogy, and my forthcoming collection of short stories, “Down to a Sunless Sea,” if you stay for a while you can draw from the well, find out more about my work, both in articles and essays that I have written over four decades, as well as short and extended excerpts from stories and books. My blog, or what I call Thoreau’s Puddle, is a place for public scoldings, personal news, thoughts and discussion, so peruse it, as it is continually updated. One of the more interesting experiences may be to follow a work of mine in progress in the Thoreauvian Puddle, reflections and philosophical musings.
The links page will provide information on reviews, interviews, literary ezines, online publications and other materials of interest I have gathered along the way, authorial clutter.
Contact me. . .engage me. . .and share your thoughts on the work — and your own. We need only connect.
For those of you who are survivors or in some way are students and teachers of the Holocaust, I will forward a copy of The i Tetralogy free, if you take care of the priority mail postage ($5). I may be reached at ifreese@hotmail.com
